🇯🇵 Tokyo
A 2-night break on the long haul from Sydney to Athens. Enough time to shake off the flight, eat brilliantly, and see a proper slice of the city before continuing on to Greece.
Shibuya & ShinjukuSensō-ji TempleRamen & izakayaBreaks the SYD→ATH haul
Tokyo — What to Do
🏙
Shibuya & Shinjuku
The Shibuya Scramble crossing, Shibuya Sky for a skyline view, and Shinjuku's neon-drenched Omoide Yokochō alleys for skewers and beer. This is peak first-impression Tokyo.
Sensō-ji Temple, Asakusa
Tokyo's oldest temple, with the lantern-lit Nakamise shopping street leading up to it. A calmer, older side of the city — good for the morning after you land.
🍜
Eat — ramen, izakaya, conveyor sushi
You have two nights, not two weeks — keep it simple. A ramen counter, an izakaya for small plates and drinks, and a conveyor-belt sushi spot for lunch. Ichiran or a local ramen-ya both work.
🛍
Don Quijote & convenience-store snacking
A late-night wander through a Don Quijote for the sheer chaos of it, and don't sleep on convenience-store food — 7-Eleven and Lawson onigiri and sandwiches are genuinely excellent.
Tokyo — 2 Night Plan
Day 1 · Sat 15 May
Arrive & ease in — Shinjuku
Afternoon
🛬
Land, check in, reset
Off the long-haul — check in, shower, short nap if you need it. Nothing scheduled for the first few hours.
Evening
🍶
Omoide Yokochō & Shinjuku neon
Skewers and beer in Shinjuku's tiny lantern-lit alleys, then a wander through the neon of Kabukichō. Easy, low-key first night.
Day 2 · Sun 16 May
Asakusa, Shibuya & a proper night out
Morning
Sensō-ji & Asakusa
Tokyo's oldest temple and the Nakamise street leading to it. Calm, photogenic, good coffee nearby.
Afternoon
🏙
Shibuya Scramble & Shibuya Sky
The world's busiest crossing, then up Shibuya Sky for a rooftop skyline view — best just before sunset.
Book Shibuya Sky ahead
Evening
🍣
Ramen, then a last wander
A proper ramen dinner, then whatever pulls you — Golden Gai's tiny bars, a Don Quijote detour, or an early night before the flight to Athens.
Day 3 · Mon 17 May
Depart for Athens
Morning
Fly Tokyo → Athens
Head to the airport for the connecting flight via a Gulf or European hub, arriving Athens Tue 18 May.
Sydney → Tokyo → Athens
Sydney → Tokyo~9–10h direct · e.g. Japan Airlines / Qantas
Tokyo → AthensVia a Gulf or European hub · book independently
Airport → cityNarita Express or Keisei Skyliner from NRT (~1h) · or Tokyo Monorail from HND (~30min)
Getting around Tokyo
IC cardGet a Suica or Pasmo (or use it on your phone) — taps on every train, bus and most convenience stores
TrainsJR Yamanote line loops the whole city — Shibuya, Shinjuku, and most sights sit right on it
CashCarry some — plenty of small izakaya and shops are still cash-only

This stopover only applies to the Greece leg — it's on the Sydney→Athens outbound flight. The Turkish Airlines free-hotel benefit is separate and applies to the homebound Barcelona→Istanbul leg.

Göbekli Tepe
Built ~10,000–9,000 BCE · Approximately 12,000 years old
Carved from bedrock by hunter-gatherers with no writing, no pottery, no agriculture — Göbekli Tepe is the oldest megalithic ritual complex ever discovered. T-shaped limestone pillars up to 5.5m tall arranged in precise circles with extraordinary animal reliefs. Its discovery completely overturned our understanding of early human civilisation. Stonehenge is 7,000 years younger. The Pyramids of Giza are 7,500 years newer.

Who's Playing

Every city we hit has its own electronic scene running every weekend. This is the hub for finding who's on at the clubs — and catching the side gigs as they drop.

17–19 Jun · BCN
Three optional electronic festivals fall inside our window — 909 in Amsterdam, Primavera Sound in Porto, and Sónar in Barcelona.
How this page works It's mid-2026 — club nights and DJ tour dates for May–June 2027 mostly aren't announced yet. Resident Advisor lineups typically land 1–8 weeks out, not a year ahead. So instead of a fixed list that'd be empty (or made up), this page is a live discovery hub: jump straight into the right listings for each city pre-set to our cities, track the artists you'd cross a border for, and drop any gig you spot into the crew tracker so nobody misses it. Bookmark it and re-check as 2027 gets closer — the closer we get, the fuller the listings.
01

Already confirmed

Big festivals announce dates a year+ ahead. These two are locked in — and both land in Barcelona during our window, on top of Gottwood (Wales) and 909 (Amsterdam) that we're already building around.

Primavera Sound

3–5 June 2027
Parc del Fòrum, Barcelona · 25th edition

Genre-spanning but with a huge electronic core (recent years: Skrillex, Four Tet, Arca, Peggy Gou) plus the citywide Primavera a la Ciutat club shows and the Primavera Bits dancefloor.

Sónar

17–19 June 2027
Fira Gran Via, Barcelona

The electronic/experimental institution. The whole city turns into Sónar Week — OFFSónar, Sónar District and Moog x Sónar club nights run alongside. Lands right at the tail of our trip.
